After extensive quoting on this thread (http://www.yeeshkul.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1571) from the pf-db (http://pf-db.com) and theembryo (http://www.yeeshkul.com/forum/member.php?u=801)'s comments here (http://www.yeeshkul.com/forum/showthread.php?p=12954#post12954), I felt that the time was right to bring this up.

The pf-db is amazing. I practically live on it and it has helped me out tons but, and don't get me wrong here, it is quite a chore to use because it is so slow and resource hungry. It always has been that way for me. I'm not the only one, right?

Adding shows is quite the task (boy did I mess one up recently :( ) and takes a very long time. Going from page to page is slow and slows down my comp for some strange reason.

I find that this db is a very important part of the community and is essential so I'm not knocking it at all but I'm wondering if there's something that can be done to help it be more efficient and modern. I'm grateful as heck that it exists but can you imagine how pleasant it would be if it was quick and perhaps full of AJAX or a Wiki? Or something?

I certainly don't know enough about this stuff to know if it's even possible. I suspect that it would be a monumental task that would take some time but...is it even possible? What would it take? Volunteers? Money? I know that I'd certainly be willing to make a donation to get this started as it is well worth it but what do you folks think? Do you all use it enough to be willing to donate? Would you use it more if it was faster or more modern?

Any one have comments, ideas or (constructive) criticisms? Please do chime in.

I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes; it's not my intentions at all...least of all orangemaze's who may not be interested in this at all in which case it's all moot.

Looking forward to hearing opinions and sharing ideas.

Thanks,
Seth

Wow, that is one most intruiging comment, Seth. I must admit, I have 'noticed', that at times the site has it's quirks as you mentioned, but I also find that the personal benefit of it's existance far outweighs any inconvenience. I stress that that is of course, an opinion based only on my own experience, but you bring up a subject that I have discussed with several mates, and is definitely worth further discussion.

Well I'm glad someone finally read and commented on this. ;)

I totally agree with you, theembryo...the mere existence of this site outweighs any and all inconveniences. That said, I'm just wondering if there's something that we as a community can do to help make the pf-db an even better destination.

I would be very curious to hear the opinions of those that use the pf-db as well as anyone that may have any ideas.

Thanks,
Seth
