Rush : Sector sets doubt

http://www.amazon.com/Sector-1-Rush/dp/B005ORVMT2/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1324133439&sr=8-4

just wondering, the rest of albums will be released lately as DVD-Audio too, or only the three, one in each Sector box?

Ya know I was thinking same thing. If they sell well suddenly blu rays of each album! Not that I'll mind, bought the catalog 4 times I think already.

These sets are BY FAR the best the Rush catalog has sounded. Definitley a must!

Holy conflicting information Batman!

Anyone know actual the details here?
Are all the albums available in 24/96 stereo? (as suggested by "all transferred to high resolution 96kHz/24-bit"). Or is there really only one album in each set and the rest are lossy coasters (as suggested by "Limited six disc (five CDs + DVD) box set")?
They were clear that there would only be one bonus 5.1 remix in the box. Very unclear on weather the set would contain 5 albums in stereo 24/96 or just one though.

Any Rush fans around here know the details? Is this for real or another bs CD set?

My BELIEF is that it is simply the albums collected together into three sets as standard (albeit 'remastered' and repackaged) CD's, with a book and one album remastered into a Hi-res DVD-A, with the gimick that all three sets, when placed next to one another look like flight case.

The Rush Fan in me wants to buy them. The CD collector in me wants to buy them.

The cynic in me say's "Ahhhhh. Another band trying to boost CD sales before the format collapses completely."

I don't think these sets (or the Floyd ones, Led Zep Ones, Who ones, Tull ones, Genesis, Radiohead etc etc etc) are a rip off. They are are all good ways to obtain a collection rapidly in a neat package. When looked at in this way they are great value for money.

However, and I realise that I will likely be shunned as a heathen and unbeliever for saying this, but if you've followed any of these bands and love the songs anyway, in the end there is nothing here. It's like watching THE PHANTOM MENACE in 3D!! Yeah, it looks great, but in the end, it's THE PHANTOM MENACE.

I'm just talking from my end of things really and what turns me on, but the recordings on these albums, for me, has always been great sounding. I've never had a critism about 'the sound'. I've never heard yet a remaster that made me change my mind about a song, album or band.

I will liely buy these as I want them. Simple as that. It's heart thing; A desire for an object. My head says it's pointless, but since when has everything got to have a good point?

Cheers, Novak

I will post some DR comparisons with older CD editions...but as an advance, I could say I checked some 80's Bryan Adams (yeah, I like some of his  ) , and the DR in Into The fire is 15!!!! ...and some Rush Albums in this 2011 edition are in DR 7 ...what a shame.

***********

Before buying, wait a second batch error-free is made (same for DSOTM and WYWH Immersions, you know what I'm talkin' about!!!)

OK, doing some math here...
5 albums of stereo 24/96 program would be about 8GB of data. A 5.1 album would be another 4GB. MLP compression would cut that in half. So 6GB or so of data would be needed.
Did they really make a dual layer DVDA disc with 5 stereo album mixes and 1 5.1 album mix all in 24/96?
I'd buy that in a second! Use the 5 CD's for coasters or something (just like the Floyd boxes!)

Knowing the bs the record companies are pulling these days though I fear they did something like this:
5 albums mastered at 24/96!
Only one actually included in the box!

Anyone actually have this? I see no comments about the content in any review. 5 Rush albums at 24/96 for $50 is a good deal to me but I'd insist on a full refund if it showed up with only one album remaster.

I have all three. To my blown out ears they sound better than ever. All sets claim the 24/96 transfers on even the non DVD disc. Again, I always thought a cd was limited to like 16/24 unless its a blu ray or DVD -A.

IMHO I worship all things Rush and this set is a must. Just seems we keep getting incorrect or lacking info which just leads to more mystery!

I read on a Rush blog that all the albums will be released by HD Tracks in 24/96 sometime next year. I do hope that is true!

CD can only be 16/44.1. It could be a lossy copy of the 24/96 remaster but not an actual copy. Anyway, my burning question is: Does the DVD have the stereo 24/96 masters for all 5 albums in each set?

JFE@ man!!!

even I from Chile understand what this set is about:
each Box-Sector is 5 CD and 1 DVD-A of one of the albums of that box.
That appears in each site where this is selling :D

My question was if in the future ALL Rush albums wiil be publisshed in DVD-A or Blu-Rays or whatever HD media.

As you could read, my question means at this moment, only three albums have recieved a HD-multichannel treatment (FBN, FTK and Signals)

DR shows loudness war and horrible compression :(

First goes older CD versions and then the 2011 Sector box sets edition

My most loved Rush albums.

Now, the three classic live albums

The first one is compared to the CD made at the end of 90's series of remasters...as you could guess, for that case the difference in DR is not that much!!!...loudness war was starting...

OK, I was able to preview these...

Do not spend any money on this set. Bootleg quality + bait and switch.
First, I was unfortunately correct with my sarcastic guess.
5 albums mastered at 24/96!
Only one actually included in the box!
So these are more like deluxe remasters for 3 albums: FBN, AFTK & Signals and then CD copies of the other albums thrown in. I wouldn't make these kind of comments if this was just billed as a CD set. I also don't just expect to find everything available in high res. They made the point of talking this up and then flat out didn't deliver.

Alright then... let's listen to AFTK in 24/96! Should be awesome! ... It should not be distorted and hurting my ears! Um... My old vinyl copy that went thru high school with me sounds strikingly better. Ya know, I'm not even interested in hearing the 5.1 remix after this.
We were treated very very well with the 2 Floyd remasters compared to this!

Ha ha... Merry Xmas everyone!

Kings is my fav Rush album too and the DVD-A is the best thing in the entire set. Xanadu was literally like re-imagining it. You won't be dissapointed in that one!
