Default Did Gilmour end up with Syd's old Esquire?

There's been a lot of talk over the years as to what happened to Syd's famous mirror disc Eqsuire after he left the Floyd. The man himself mentioned in an interview that he swapped it for a black Telecaster (presumably the one that he was photographed with several times throughout his solo years), but there's never been a mention of what happened to the Esquire.

However, it appears that Gilmour has occasionally used a sunburst Esquire several times since the late '70s - it's in his 1978 solo films (notably for the song No Way), apparently it was used in the Wall sessions, and it resurfaced around the turn of the millennium when he was playing with Paul McCartney - eg this clip:

Is there any possibility that it's the same guitar, minus the silver paint and mirror discs? It certainly looks like it's been through the mill a bit. Do we know what finish Syd's Esquire was originally? If it was sunburst that might offer a clue.

Aah, so Gilmour got it from Seymour Duncan in the '70s. Never mind, it was a nice theory!

It is a completely different instrument. An interesting theory, but an overly simplistic one.
