I have the old Bit Torrent 7.2.1 (10 years ago I think), without advse and good for upload and download.

    So, no need upgrade

A useful site for floydians (many thanks Snsik) :

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you, no one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.

FWIW, I'm probably one of the uTorrent 3.0.0.0 users. Well, I'm definitely a uTorrent 3.0.0.0 user; not sure about that particular torrent. There's no trace of advertising on that one, so that's why I'm using it. It's in a Windows virtual machine as it happens.

I'm been looking at moving over to Deluge in a Linux virtual machine, however.

I used Azureus many, many years ago, but dropped it because as a Java program it felt very, very sluggish on whatever crappy machine I was running it on at the time. It's probably better these days with better hardware now, but I'd still be wary of running anything Java in a VM.

    I use uTorrent 3.4.9

You can go to the advanced tab on the preferences menu, and disable all the publicity by changing some of the values.

I've been using Transmission for a long time now.
Am I missing anything? No ads. That would get something uninstalled in seconds!

Someone mentioned using Azureus in the past. I did as well. I can't remember what made me switch. Maybe Transmission claimed lighter CPU use or some such. (Talking about CPU use with a torrent client is like worrying if your calculator will run of course.) I never tried uTorrent. Not sure why. Is that the one showing ads now? Maybe that's why.
