I hope you were joking. This is rubbish. Can you really imagine that the leader of one of the oldest liberal democracies in the world would sacrifice hundreds of thousands of people in the name of building 'herd immunity'. The government policy is to try and avoid everyone getting ill at once (to 'flatten' the peak) and to avoid invoking some kind of lock down too early. Any lockdown cannot be sustained indefinitely, and once lifted, would likely result in a second wave (as happened during the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918). So timing of such draconian measures needs to be carefully calibrated.

Johnson is following scientific advice. They are not doing doing 'nothing'. This situation is going to drag on for months and actions will change day by day, based on the extent of infection, and the advice received.
