Stand alone release of Delicate Sound of Thunder

Almost exactly 32 years to the date it was first released, the new re-edited and re-mixed version of Delicate Sound of thunder will hit the stores.

It was previously available only in the Later Years boxset.

Now it will have it's own release. And looks like the treatment is quite attractive for those of us who like that concert.

20 November 2020 sees the release of Pink Floyd's Delicate Sound Of Thunder on Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD, 3-disc vinyl and deluxe 4-disc edition with bonus tracks. Alongside the classic live album and full concert film (restored and re-edited from the original 35mm film and enhanced with 5.1 surround sound), which was included in The Later Years box set, all editions feature 24-page photo booklets, with the 4-disc box edition including a 40-page photo booklet, tour poster and postcards. The 3LP 180-gram vinyl set includes 9 songs not included on the 1988 release of the album, while the 2CD includes 8 tracks more than its original release.

Filmed at Long Island's Nassau Coliseum in August 1988 and directed by Wayne Isham, the 2020 release of the Grammy Award nominated Delicate Sound Of Thunder is sourced directly from over 100 cans of original 35mm negatives, painstakingly restored and transferred to 4K, and completely re-edited by Benny Trickett from the restored and upgraded footage, under the creative direction of Aubrey Powell/Hipgnosis. Similarly, the sound was completely remixed from the original multitrack tapes by longtime Pink Floyd engineer Andy Jackson with Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, assisted by Damon Iddins.

Awesome! Glad to see that you can get the video for under $20. Will be nice to finally have an official dvd on my shelf between The Wall and Pulse. The vinyl and the other editions look really nice as well.

Nope. Nothing. (Or maybe the menus?)

This is most probably targeted to the people who didn't buy the Later Years box, or to those who wished to have the LP version. Is good to have plenty of options available for different buyers. But, actually, if someone already own the Later years, then why bother to get this? (unless you are a completist, of course.)

Now, I wonder if they have plans to release the re-edited Pulse and the remixed AMLOR album also as separate sets. Because then the Later Years box would make much less sense.

The only real difference is the availability of DSOT on 3 LPs including all 23 tracks from the setlist.

That's for the deluxe set.
Much cheaper if you buy the CD and Blu-Ray separately 25+35=$60. You'll miss the 40-page book, poster and cards, though.
