Atom Heart Mother (Hakone Aphrodite 50th Anniversary Edition) CD and Blu-ray

The newly discovered original 16mm film of Hakone Aphrodite will be officially released by Sony Music Japan. Amazing!
It will be released on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, just before the 50th anniversary of Hakone Aphrodite. It seems to be a Japan-only release.

Fifty years ago, on August 6 and 7, 1971, "Hakone Aphrodite," Japan's first open air rock festival inviting foreign artists, was held on a special stage on the north slope of Lake Ashinoko in Hakone for two days. Pink Floyd was invited as the headliner along with many other Japanese artists. In the latter half of the 1960s, large-scale rock festivals such as the Monterey Pop Festival and Woodstock were held overseas, and 1971 was the first year of Western rock concerts in Japan, when many foreign artists visited Japan. Against this backdrop, "Hakone Aphrodite" was planned to be a Japanese version of Woodstock, and it has been passed down as the legendary rock festival that Japanese rock fans experienced for the first time.

The video of Pink Floyd's performance at Hakone Aphrodite has been shrouded in mystery for many years, including the whereabouts of the master and how the video was shot. However, after half a century, the original 16mm film of this footage was finally discovered. The film was digitized frame by frame using the latest technology, and after many years of careful restoration and remastering to remove noise and dust from the film, and after negotiations with Pink Floyd, the film was made available only in Japan at the time of the 50th anniversary of "Hakone Aphrodite". In addition to the live footage (the sound source is also from the Hakone Aphrodite show), off-shots, airports, hotels, press conferences, the Shinkansen, the color of the sky, the scenery of Japan at that time, etc....

In addition, a 3-minute B-Roll video of Pink Floyd's crew is also newly discovered. This is the first glimpse of the set-up of the venue at that time, and it is a valuable, albeit short, footage (included as bonus footage on the Blu-ray). A number of previously unpublished photos have also been discovered and are included in a special 60-page photo book, allowing you to look back on the documentary of Pink Floyd's first visit to Japan in 1971 through photos.

Absolutely wonderful. Now thatís how to reward fans with something new. The only frustration is that I imagine that it will be difficult for people elsewhere in the world to purchase.

There's no need to panic, folks.
As well as the Sony Music Japan website, other online retailers are gradually beginning to sell the AHM 50th Anniversary Edition.
There are also a number of Japanese e-commerce sites such as WorldShopping, tenso.com, BUYEE, etc. that offer proxy purchasing services.

I wonder if orders from Amazon will include the extra picture postcard mentioned at other sellers. HMV gave an error "This order includes items which are prohibition of export."
