Metadata Mass change tools?

having imported all my lossless music into Musicbee (audio player that i wanted to try out) which it did surprisingly fast, i noticed many folders are not well catalogued by whoever originally created the files
so i see shitloads of "unknowns" be it songs, artists or albums
so i was wondering, is there any mass change tool that will let me select my Pink Floyd Audio folder, and simply go "all these files are -Pink Floyd- files?

Or does anyone have a better alternative?
it is WAY too much to do it file by file.

Hiho,

i would use MP3Tag which is free and a wonderful and very poweful tool.

For example you can use the folder name and put that into the TAG or whatever you want. Just let me know if you need any assistance, i am glad to help. (I work with this for a looong time now )

well seems like it does.
downloaded it and tested it on some non-floyd content.
Works like a charm

How would this possibly negatively affect any of the Floyd material i have, i suppose the md5 files become faulty? would i need to create new ones should i ever upload a floyd show again?

mm, bit expensive to do that for 8,7TB. still, interesting concept.

MassTagger in Foobar2000 is massively powerful. Would easily do why you want, and is free.

I use it in conjunction with m-Tags to store my metadata separately from the files themselves, so it’s non-destructive.

I once worked on the original DLs and almost lost everything...i'll never touch these again...

I use either KID3 or EasyTag, both open source, and both able to handle MP3/FLAC, while KID3 also handles APE.

They're both excellent tools, and you can do everything from tagging files with such things as artist, song title, album title, disc number, genre, track number, year, description, and many other tags, but you can even add album art should you like.

I've used KID3 on the Mac. I find the UI a bit quirky; I guess maybe the downside of a multi-platform app. But it works.

I'm also trying out Ex Falso, which is basically the tagging component of the Quod Libet media player. Haven't used as much yet, but as another GTK (I think) app ported to macOS, I'm expecting its UI to be quirky too.

Way back when I was running Windows, Foobar2000's MassTagger was to my tastes by far and away the best mass tagger I'd used.
