Default New concert date 17march 1968

Got an update on a concert near my hometown, I've search for over 10 years for it and I got finally the date.
17 march 1968, the venue was named: De Recta in an small village Ertvelde. I soon will have a copy of the tickets and I will see the couple who was there. They have a small book with all of their notes of all their shows they have been seen.
    I keep you informed.

you mean a Pink Floyd date?

on Povey/Russell book, it's not mentioned at all but on my old "Scacco Matto" book (pictured in my avatar) they mention a Bruxelles date for that day, but without mentioning also a venue, only the city.

of course, your newly discovered information would be the correct one.

    of course it is.

evidently, the guys who made Scacco Matto in late 80s (well before the internet era, which makes even more incredible the research work they did back then) discovered a Belgian date that day and didn't know any other details... so they maybe listed it as Bruxelles.

a curiousity, is Bruxelles in the same area as Ertvelde?
If so, this would easily explain the approximation in the Scacco Matto book for that date... but it's just remarkable that they had listed a gig for march 17, 1968 at all.

Brussels is in the centre of Belgium. Ertvelde in the north, near the Dutch border.
I will get more info soon.
I only know it was a last minute gig.

    nice to know.

in fact, just the night before they had another gig in UK (London)... and for a band which wasn't still that famous, I believe logistics would have been a bit hard to handle from UK to Belgium like that.
Then evidently it was a last minute choice and so, probably, they simply packed their own stuff the night before there in UK and moved in a hurry to Belgium.

The interesting thing is that, being before april 1968, Syd Barrett was still officially in the band...
most likely, this is one of those dates where they simply left him at home without even telling him that they were going to make a gig (like when Rick Wright told in interviews that he told Syd: "I am going to buy cigarettes" but he went to make a gig instead!).
Anyways, It would be nice to know if the guys who attended the gig do remember if the floyds were 5 people that night or not.

Isnít it already pretty well documented that Syd's last Floyd gig was Hastings 20 January 1968?

if you're telling this, then it must just be this way.

Of course, it's me who actually didn't remember about the exact times while they still had Syd on stage.

so, my question about the 5 members is pointless... 17 march 1968 is just about a couple weeks before Syd was officially out of the Floyds then evidently it was quite some time he didn't go on stage with them.

Might have simply checked my Povey/Russell book where, IIRC, they mention the gigs where they were 5.

    Cheers,

    Vince.

Syd stopped being in the studio by January 1968 (members didn't notified him about upcoming sessions) and last gig with him was on 20 January 1968.

thanks for detailed information (to the both of you guys)

so, by january 1968, with that "have you got it yet?" the guys had just got enough of it... and Rick Wright needed hours, if not days, to finally find a tobacco shop to buy his cigarettes.
