    Default Adjusted image

Thanks for the info, it's great to see Syd's handwriting, expert psychological analysis to follow

Here's a roughly re-worked image to try to see the lyrics obscured by the overlap.
Maybe a member can pop in to the viewing in Nov to grab some phone pics to confirm the full lyrics, assuming they are not already agreed on?

I see some words there that I can't hear on the recordings:
    "my haircut looks so ----"
I'd always heard "bad" , but there's a different word here, possibly 4 letters?
    Same goes for:
"so I change my gear and I find my -----"
I'd heard "feet", the word here is possibly 5 letters?
    Etc. etc.

I have always heard it as "Find my knees" but could be wrong!

Wow. Wonder where these have been hiding all these years? In a ring binder by the looks of things...

I thought it was "my haircut looks so rare"?

I always heard "haircut looks so fab", common slang at the time of course.

A fascinating find! From the looks of things, I think it might be "my haircut looks so fair"? That would make sense with the rhyme scheme: shirt/jerk, quite/sight, hair/fair.

Of course the sheet doesn't 100% match either the BBC performance or the studio cut. It's clearly -- at least to my ears -- "I've been looking all over the place for a place for me" on both versions.

The chords at the start of that lyrics are different too, as they go Eb to Db, not D to Db as on the chord chart. A later chord is missing too. In other words, what's given on the sheet as:

    | D Db | A G# | E | A B | E |

Is actually, on the studio cut:

    | Eb Db | A G# | E | G# A | B E |

While on the BBC version, it's:

    | Eb D | A G# | E | G# A | B E |

Though I think the D is an error -- or at least it throws Syd's vocal off for a moment, since that part of the vocal melody doesn't match the chords anymore.

I think knees because of the following line, and it's really the context that makes me hear knees. "and then I cover them up with the latest cut". It's a plural noun I guess, whatever the word is. Would be nice to see the official lyrics. Seems that there's quite a bit up for debate. Hey, maybe Lee can ask what Guy and Gary are singing on tour and reply here. Haha
