Default Put your PF listening years in order

This exercise is simple and hopefully illuminating... simply place each of the following tours in order according to which you find yourself listening to the most, 2nd most, etc.

    1965-1967 Syd years
    1968-1969 transition years
    1970 AHM
    1971 Meddle
    1972-1973 Eclipse/OBC
    1974-1975 DSOTM/pre-Wish
    1977 WYWH/Animals
    1980-1981 Wall
    1987+ DG years

I'm really curious to see how Y! feels about this, considering the die hard nature of this crowd.
Off surfing with Linda, of course.

    My list goes like this...

    1) 1970 AHM
    2) 1971 Meddle
    3) 1974-1975 pre-Wish
    4) 1972-1973 Eclipse
    5) 1977 WYWH/Animals
    6) 1965-1967 Syd
    7) 1968-1969 transition
    8) 1987+ DG years
    9) 1980-1981 Wall (one show once a year or so)
Off surfing with Linda, of course.

It varies according to my mood, so I'm going to put this into groups rather than a straight list:

    1) 1971 Meddle & 1977 WYWH/Animals

    2) 1974-1975 pre-Wish
(I know people are really down on the 1974 performances, but I for one am fascinated by the evolution of songs so these are up there for the proto-SOYCD+Animals tracks.)

    3) 1968-1969 transition & 1970 AHM & 1972-1973 Eclipse
    (The jamming experimental years.)

    4) 1965-1967 Syd

    5) 1987+ DG years & 1980-1981 Wall
(The sum of the parts are less than the whole. Just for curiosity and completeness.)

Not to mention Echoes with sax... I absolutely love these shows.

    1) My first group is reliant on phases I go through, so it is impossible to order them, but 1968 would be the least of them:
    1965-1967 Syd
    1969 Man/Journey
    1970 AHM
    1971 Meddle
    1972-1973 Eclipse

    2) 1977 WYWH/Animals
    3) 1974-1975 pre-Wish
    4) Solo Floyd shows
    5) 1980-1981 Wall
    6) 1987+ DG years
    Floyd First Since 1978

    Mine is in three groups:

#1 This is stuff I listen to a few times a week:

    1965-1967 Syd years
    1968-1969 transition years
    1970 AHM
    1971 Meddle
    1972 Eclipse/OBC

I'll add the Gilmour and Wright solo albums from 1978 to this "#1" group as well.

#2 This is stuff that I listen to a few times a year, if that:
    1973 -1975 DSOTM/pre-Wish
    1977 WYWH/Animals
    1987+ DG years

#3 This is once every few years for me:
    1980-1981 Wall

To sum up my philosophy as a listener would be simple. I enjoy the journey and the process of discovery much more than I enjoy the "arrival". I like to hear musicians pushing for things just beyond their reach and having epiphanies and stumbles, sometimes in equal measure. 1967 - 1972 is my favorite era of Pink Floyd for that reason.

Are you open to persuasion in respect of 68?

Tough to answer in accordance with my actual preferences, since shows from later years usually outnumber shows from earlier ones. If we put it in terms of my actual listening, it probably shakes out like this:

    1972-1973 Eclipse/OBC
    1971 Meddle
    1970 AHM
    1968-1969 transition years
    1974-1975 DSOTM/pre-Wish
    1965-1967 Syd years
    1977 WYWH/Animals
    1980-1981 Wall
    1987+ DG years

But in terms of preferences, it'd be more like:

    1971 Meddle
    1968-1969 transition years
    1970 AHM
    1965-1967 Syd years
    1972-1973 Eclipse/OBC
    1977 WYWH/Animals
    1974-1975 DSOTM/pre-Wish
    1980-1981 Wall
    1987+ DG years

Even there, it's more about subsets: January-February 1970 is possibly my single favorite period in the band's live history, whereas March 1970 leaves me comparatively unmoved and I'd often rather listen to February or March 1972 instead.
