Awesome! Thanks.
always a pleasure to hear David Gilmour (I hope that he will do some vocal harmonies; and some tasty guitar solos) - love how Donovan's style influenced the Beatles (especially Lennon in 1968)
Is there some audio excerpts of the single with David Gilmour ? This is not out yet ? (just the single ?)
Here it is https://youtu.be/DBqSYKLuro0
Not blown away but always great to hear something new with David on it!
Anyone know when it was recorded?
"David brought his guitar roadie, who set up two amps in the studio, handed David his pink Strat, and his unique signature sound enthralled us all.”
A pink strat was auctioned by Christies, which I'm guessing was the one used, placing this session some time ago?
Not recently, by the sound. He has not used chorus in years, so this could be 1990s or early 2000s. It sounds exactly like David's 1990s sound to me. If it is the '90s I am guessing the "two amps" were probably the stereo rig with the twin Fender Bassmans that he was using a lot at the time. If it was later, it's probably his Bassman and Hiwatt SA-212 rig.
EDIT - apparently this album was recorded around 1990, never released, but a bootleg of it was available around 2003.

how great info! did someone check TTD or guitars101 to see if this bootleg is around. That would be great. This reminds me the rough mix of Pete Townshend and Rony Lane's great studio album which is available on bootleg.
So, this version with David Gilmour is not new ? It was not recorded in 2021 or 2022 but in the 90's ? or is it Donovan's studio demo or rough mix.
In that case I wonder if the backing track has been used for this single.
And Kit Rae avait du flair about Gilmour's gear and guitar on this song.
I really like it; Donovan's voice is damned good, this song really rock (hence the title); I love the violin solo (Nigel Kennedy) and David Gilmour's solo is tasty. Who plays the rhythm low electric guitar ? Gilmour too ?
